California Court Salary Database Now Available Online

The Bay Area News Group recently released a database compiling salary data for judges and other California court employees. As constitutional officers, judges’ salaries have always been available from the State Controller’s office. All other court records are released by court rule (i.e., not pursuant to FOIA on the federal level or state public records laws).

The Bay Area News Group requested 2009 salary data for all California judges and court employees, and received the data from the majority of statewide and county-level courts. Included in this data is more than $1 billion in salaries for judges, clerks, lawyers and administrators.

The database includes salary data for 15,377 court employees, and may be searched and sorted by employee first/last name, job title, court, base pay, gross pay, overtime pay and other pay.
